How To Choose The Right Siberian Cat Breeder

By Sandra Sanders

Having a pet at home can relieve so much stress and other bad emotions. It does wonders for you health. This is one of the biggest reason why people get one or two or seven of them. They may cost some money but the furry company is well worth it. Picking the right one for you is quite the challenge though.

Getting the right one for you would depend on your personality. But a really safe choice would be the Siberian cat due to their gentleness and being child friendly. While they maybe the second largest breed of at out there, you can be sure that they are just as affectionate as the tiniest kitten. The trick is to get the right Siberian cat breeder to make sure you have a healthy pet.

Checking if you have the right breeder can be quite the challenge. You can be assured though that this is not the career choice of most people so you can definitely just pick them out in your area. Ask around in local cat societies and the veterinary clinics about the people who you plan to go to and see if they have a good reputation in their industry.

This way, you can make a list and just crush out those who have a bad rep. It would also be great if you ask about any websites they may have, especially when you are not able to meet them. There is a possibility that they would show the cats and review of those who bought from them which would make for a great reference.

Also check for any registrations with national associations and other certificates that can show their legitimacy in the matter. As trivial as it may sound, breeding and going to cat pageants require the necessary medical documents to make sure that the cat is purebred and clean. This is rather elitist in a way, but if the health of your feline is of utmost importance you would see the value in it.

Ask if you can visit the home or shop of this person. Seeing where the kittens are being held and the environment that they stay in is crucial. It gives you a good impression of how the breeder manages his creatures. Observe and be keen about checking for weird odors and smells of urine and cat feces.

Kitten mills in particular are bad. While they may produce many felines for you to choose from, the chances of these creatures being taken cared of well are slim. If the breeder that you are considering to buy from hesitates and would not let you visit this maybe be because the place is not exactly conducive for the animals.

There is a rule that cats should not be taken away from their parents before 10 weeks since they were born. So it would be best to do some research regarding the size that these kittens can come in. Siberian cats are bigger than most so if you do not know how big they should be by 10 weeks, you may be fooled into thinking that it would already be okay to take them.

Getting these pets from the right breeder may be expensive but you are guaranteed that they will be healthy. There would be no need for extra trips to the vet and medicine. It is also a good indication when the breeder seems like they are judging and qualifying you when you go check out their kittens. This means that they actually care for the welfare of the animals and not just for money.
