Cavachon Pups Are Very Popular

By Betty Price

Most people have personal preferences when it comes to pets. Some love cats, some love dogs, and then there those who are attracted to more exotic animals like snakes, ferrets, and lizards. The majority of us will choose from the many varieties of dogs and cats available. Depending on your circumstances and lifestyle, you may decide that a large, active dog suites your needs. For others, a smaller, cuddlier pooch is what they look for. These folks should check out Cavachon pups.

You may never have heard of these dogs, but they are becoming increasingly popular. Cavalier King Charles spaniels and Bichon Frises are also immensely admired by dog owners. Cavachons are a hybrid of those two breeds. Apparently the breed came about when a purebred pair, one King Charles and one Frise, was left unattended momentarily. The result was a this tiny bundle of fur with huge brown eyes and lots of personality.

As already stated, this is a small animal that will probably never weigh over twenty pounds. Because of its small stature, living in a loft apartment, small condo or one bedroom house will not adversely affect its health or well being.

Cavachons are playful, but will also be content lying quietly next to you while you read, watch television, or work on your computer. Unlike many of their canine relatives however, they can be quite happy just hanging out by themselves while their owners are out working or running errands.

Training a Cavachon is not a problem. They are intelligent and eager to please. Puppies may need gentle reminders not to chew or jump, but it will not take them long to get the hang of what you expect. Beyond the usual commands to sit, heel, and stay, you can teach these dogs to do simple tricks like rolling over and playing dead. As long as they are rewarded with plenty of treats and affectionate hugs, Cavachons will be happy to entertain you.

People who love dogs but are allergic to them will be happy to know that Cavachons do not shed much even though they have long, heavy coats. Because their fur is so thick, and sometimes curly, they require regular grooming. You can probably find a good groomer in your area if you do not want to do the job yourself.

Although these dogs are full of energy and love to be active, they are not big eaters. This nothing to be alarmed about. It seems to be a characteristic of the breed. As long as you dog is healthy and not losing weight, regular vet visits should be all that is needed to make certain the animal is fine.

If you are in the market for a new pet and are considering a small dog, do yourself a favor and check out Cavachon puppies. Owners will tell you that these dogs have great big hearts in tiny little bodies. They are delightful animals that can fill a void in the lives of big families and lonely singles.
