By Anna Cox

When you wish of owning one charming companion that comes from a canine community, consider the breed of King Charles Spaniel as one of your choices. The breed is considered to have the largest size among all those that belong to category of toy dogs. And since they have a small stature and this is why most owners have preferred them.

This breed can be the best choice for most singles, seniors, and families because of their energetic, easy going, and happy personalities. However, its price maybe too expensive especially if it is purebred. Mixed Spaniels could be much cheaper. When you have decided on buying one from the King Charles Spaniels breeders, you need to consider some important things such as the following.

Finding for the right look. Spaniels are made available with different and these are available a well in different color combinations. The most common available colors are tricolor, Blenheim, ruby, and black and tan. Most breeders would rather prefer on breeding those with long, slightly wavy fur having clear and definable colors.

See to it that the one you chose has a high quality coat. Make sure to spare some time to groom them properly. Regularly brushing them is necessary. Spaniel coats are rarely being trimmed. It is also required that they will only be bathed once every few number of weeks. Consider those dogs that are healthy. Health issues are very common to these breeds due to an inbreeding.

Look for one having the right temperament. Try to determine the friendliness. They must always be welcoming people and can be able to provide comfort and entertainment. The Spaniels are best for those families with children. There is only a less possibility for children to be hurt accidentally because these dogs have small stature. However, similar to other breeds, they may still scratch or bite, but they are much easier to handle.

Focus on the types that have a better interaction with some other animals. Some of the families may love to own two or even more dogs. So if you as well would love to own many, you must observe how well a Spaniel would interact with the other dogs. With this, their temperament can be easily determined.

To consider a purebred. Generally, Spaniels have traits which are predictable. And thus, purchasing the purebred can make you expect their lovable traits as house pets, energetic, a and fairly manageable coats. And if genetically speaking, they have also a happy go lucky predisposition.

There are some possible drawbacks when considering the non purebred types. One is they may possibly acquire some biological traits from another breed. If a hound is being mixed with them, probably, they are going acquire the stronger instinct of hunting and barking. And if being mixed with dogs having low energy such as the shih tzu, the energetic luster they have as purebred would be lost.

Buying it. Asking for you recommendations from some people you know such as friends and family can be very much helpful. You can also search for breeders via online and through various websites. There are also breeders who will be posting advertisements in local newspapers. It depends upon the location, you could either obtain one or more options.
