What To Know Before Going To Siberian Cat Breeders Georgia

By Sandra Walker

No doubt you are probably a cat lover and that is why you are reading this article right now. Most likely you may have heard of the Siberian breed and while you are in Georgia, you are thinking of visiting some Siberian cat breeders Georgia to help you out in your decision. Do finish off this article so that you can have more information for a better decision and choice.

The breed is also known by another name, the Moscow Semi Longhair. It is a popular breed in Russia and has been part of Russian culture and storytelling for the past ten centuries at least. It is a cat that is used in may farms and homesteads in the Siberian wilderness to catch rats and mice, a job that this breed is still doing today actually.

Once you have a mind to getting this cat then do expect to get a lot of energy from it while it is alive. It is because of this eternal rambunctiousness, many would believe that it took a sip from the fountain of youth. It does take its time in achieving maturity in temperament, sometime taking up to over five years in the process.

It also has a similar behavior to a dog in the way that it loves to follow its master around and wants to involve itself in whatever activity is being done at the moment. Also like the Egyptian Mau, it will not only purr when it is please but it will give a birdlike chirping sound as well. It is also one that loves to be near or around water, so giving it a bath will pose no real problem.

All breeds will have health complications unique to their station, and the Siberian is by no means an exception. It will tend to suffer from heart related issues such as heart enlargement and may also develop kidney related conditions. It is a cat that loves to eat so you may have to restrict its food intake somewhat. Regular visits to the vet are also highly recommended.

As has been mentioned earlier of its love of water, it is thus easy to give it a bath and wash it. The challenge however lies in the fact that the fur is water resistant, so you will have to find creative means of applying shampoo and such. Regular brushing is also recommended to build a stronger bond between you and the Siberian, although the fur in itself is resistant to matting and tangling.

Another advantage when one gets this breed is that its fur is widely believed or accepted as being hypoallergenic. This means it will be less prone to trigger any feline related allergies, but it is still good to play it safe and give it a live in period of at least a month and observe if it is indeed the case that it does not trigger any allergies you may have.

Once you have weighed all your options and did further research on many of its other qualities, then the time is ripe that you do go out and get one. Do schedule a visit to a reputable dealer or breeder and be aware that some do try to cheat you by selling a Maine Coon or a Norwegian Forest Cat instead.
