Shih tzu breeds of dog are considered as being very much friendly and active, however, being stubborn is another common trait as well. If you have plan to train them, you are required on dedicating your time for it. These trainings would be important for you and for your pet because there are many different benefits which you both can possibly get such as being more healthy and happy. Improving the relationship is also an advantage.

Crate training. Housebreaking is one of the most important processes involved. Your pet must be allowed to become familiar about the its crate so that it can be helped on some common incidents like vet trips and road trips where he or she will be confined. A crate size must be based on the size of your dog for giving the Yorkshire Terrier Shih Tzu puppies an enough space to turn around, sit, and stand. It is very important to consider ventilation on all sides.

Crates must be considered as good treatments and not as punishment. In the crate, they must always be provided with food, treats, dish and water, and toys. But you need to make sure that these things you are providing them are safe and cannot be easily swallowed. Keep them inside in times when you cannot watch over them to avoid any accident.

Decide whether the dog will be going inside or outside. Many people have preferred on having their pet outside because of some reasons. There may be some family members who are allergic to the fur or they do not want to clean up messes inside. While others do not have any choice, such as those living in houses or apartments with small outside spaces, they prefer their pets inside.

When inside, it could be very possible for them to be trained on eliminating on the papers. The training has one significant benefit which is convenience and it can also be considered as one best alternative if you cannot take the pet out because of some possible reasons like busy schedules and physical problems. In addition, paddings and newspapers are sold and bought in different pet stores and shops.

Papee training is believed to only have a single disadvantage and that is having bad odor. So it can be one good suggestion for Shih Tzus since they will surely be craving always outside and having high energy. Consistency should be considered as important.

Walks must have schedules. In their first housebreaking, strict walking schedules would be very important so that the pet can practice to eliminate outside the home. This is a good training as well. There are 3 common symptoms which dogs would often show such as squatting, sniffing, and circling. Once these behaviors are noticed, immediately bring them out.

When the puppy has first house broken, it is recommended to take the puppy out every twenty up to thirty minutes. This must be done before sleeping, after eating and drinking, and after waking up. Usually, Shih Tzus would respond more if about some positive reinforcements instead of those negative ones.

Be patient. Housebreaking this puppy can be difficult. It may often take 8 months before it can understand fully where he or she needs to eliminate. However, you should try not to be discouraged. Just do continuously the trainings, or if not, hire a professional trainer in Ohio. Always be consistent since over time, your pet can surely understand the rules fully and obey them.
