Longmont CO Puppy Training Techniques

By Rebecca Johnson

When you first bring your puppy home, you will find it to be so incredibly adorable. However, you will soon find out that Longmont CO puppy training is a necessity. This is something that is ongoing, and one can't avoid this. Many people procrastinate with this, but it is simply like bringing up kids. When you neglect your children, you will find that there are problems that will crop up.

Of course, one has to find the balance. A lot of owners are too pushy when they get a new puppy. Remember that they are making a new adjustment to their surroundings. At this stage, they will need a lot of love and care. It is important that you make them feel at home, especially in the beginning. As time goes by, you can enforce more discipline, but there are ways in going about this.

There are various ways of introducing discipline into the life of a young dog. There are also certain things that one should avoid. For example, one should never hit a puppy. This is out of the question because it will promote aggression. You will also find that you will have problems when you make a puppy sniff the mess that they have made.

When a puppy is the one who is in charge, they will develop bad behaviors, which can include a large amount of aggression. As they grow up, this will become worse. As a dog, they will begin to chew and bite. It can become disastrous as a dog, with these aggressive behaviors.

At this stage, a puppy won't be used to playing with other dogs. It is important to socialize with other puppies so this is something that they become used to. You need to keep watch so that they can handle dominant dogs and so that they not too rough. They also need to be able to manage children from a young age, and this is something else you need to encourage.

It is important that your pup learns from a young age about certain important things in life. This can relate to being at the table and begging for food. They need to have a set time where they are fed, and this is their time. They will also need to be taught to be around small children and how to handle these situations. They have to learn to socialize with other dogs.

It is important that you help them to behave in the right way by taking them to a field, for example where they can run around and play with other dogs. You need to keep an eye out for when there is rough play that is too excessive. Small kids need to be invited to the home when the puppy is still small so it learns how to interact with them.

Obviously you will want your pup to have a fair amount of exercise. However, in the beginning, they will also need to sleep a lot. You have to introduce this gradually with short walks in the beginning. Take them on daily walks so they start to get used to it. Make sure you walk in front of the young dog so that it knows who is boss.
