Things To Know About Cavachon Pups

By Raymond Brooks

Dogs are perfect companions who love without condition, are always entertaining, great comforters, and are forever loyal. Once one has decided to take a pet into their home, it is best to always pick one who has grooming needs, general behavioral traits, health conditions, activity levels, and grooming needs that are compatible with their living situation and lifestyle. Cavachon pups are an adorable designer breed which has very attractive qualities and is adaptable to most circumstances.

These dogs are a combination of a pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a full blooded Bichon Frise, both of which fall under the Toy category in sizing. They are may also be obtained by mating two first generation Cavachons though they are difficult to breed, making them rare, and certain qualities may diminish if further generations are mated. As a mix, they are not recognized by major kennel clubs and there are no authoritative standards in place.

These dogs are quite small, typically reaching no more than thirteen inches high and eighteen pounds when fully grown. Though they may be a variety of colors, they are commonly shades of brown, white, and peach. They are considered hypoallergenic as their soft, silky, thick slightly wavy or curly coats are generally low dander and minimal shed.

When give the right care and provided with regular health checkups, they are likely to have a happy lifespan of up to 20 years. Hair that falls into their eyes which causing ulcerations, flea allergies and heart murmurs, are all common issues for small dogs. As this breed has a tendency for fur to grow in their ears, they will need to have them cleaned weekly or risk infections.

Although quite energetic, Cavachons are not hyperactive, but they are intelligent, gentle, social, affectionate, and friendly. Their indoor behavior is typically very controlled but to get rid of pent up energy, it is advisable to provide walks or playtime daily. As they form deep emotional bonds, these dogs love the company of other pets and humans, alike.

This particular breed is just a bit high maintenance when it comes to grooming. This is because they do not shed much so their fur grows thick, long, and curly which is the perfect combination for matting. They will require daily brushing in order to keep their coat smooth and silky or else one will need to pay the costs to take them to the groomer regularly.

This breed is quite intelligent and the dogs have an ability to learn relatively fast when lessons are consistent. Both their behavioral conditioning and their socialization need to start while very young so that negative habits do not have a chance to form. When obedience training starts as a puppy, the results are likely to be more impressive.

This small breed is a great choice for any individual who has allergies, has limited living space, or travels with their pet often. These dogs are wonderful with children, the elderly, and other types of household pet. Cavachons will provide their owners with lots of love and affection, endless loyalty, and years of comfort and companionship.
